Terrain Oak Herringbone 12mm Laminate

Terrain Oak Herringbone is a rich, dark brown parquet-style laminate from our Craft range, with a pronounced oak-grain effect. It is a floor to add character to a room, not one that disappears into the background.

Look and character

Warm brown tones combine with a strong grain pattern, and lighter grain markings contrast with deeper brown areas. The result is a varied, rustic appearance rather than a flat, uniform colour. The 95mm blocks create a detailed herringbone layout, and the textured and embossed surface adds definition to the oak design. It is oak-effect laminate, not solid or engineered oak. It suits period homes, snugs and dining rooms, and looks good with warm white walls, leather, brass and plenty of greenery.

Construction and specification

Being 12mm thick, each block gives a reassuring, solid step and a calmer sound underfoot compared with thinner laminate. AC5 is the highest wear class you will usually see on laminate, rated for heavy commercial traffic, which gives plenty of headroom in a busy home. Packs cover 1.607 m² each, so round up to the next full pack. At 95mm by 470mm, the blocks are proportioned like traditional parquet. All four edges carry a small 4V bevel, which outlines each block and adds depth to the floor.

Where it works

Suitable rooms include living rooms, dining rooms, conservatories, kitchens, bedrooms, hallways and bathrooms. Felt pads under dining chairs help keep the surface looking fresh. Fitting and underfloor heating

The blocks click together and are laid as a floating floor, so nothing is fixed down to the subfloor. Choose the right underlay for laminate for your subfloor; it evens out minor bumps and cuts down noise. Herringbone takes more cutting at the walls than straight planks, so add about 10% to your room size for cuts and waste. It is suitable for underfloor heating. Neat scotia beading around the skirting hides the expansion gap.
