Dark American Walnut 12mm Laminate

Dark American Walnut is a rich, dark walnut-effect laminate from our Home Classic range. It gives rooms a warm, formal floor with the depth of a traditional walnut, on a practical 12mm click plank.

Look and character

The colour is a deep, chocolate-toned brown with the flowing grain associated with walnut. Dark floors like this give a room weight and contrast, making pale walls, light sofas and white woodwork stand out. It suits period homes, studies, dining rooms and bedrooms where you want a cosy, enclosed feel. The textured and embossed surface adds a grain feel, and the bevelled edges frame every plank. Brass, leather, velvet and deep green or navy walls all work well against it. As with any dark floor, dust and paw prints show more than on a mid-tone.

Construction and specification

Being 12mm thick, each plank gives a reassuring, solid step and a calmer sound underfoot compared with thinner laminate. One pack covers 1.51 m². It carries an AC4 abrasion rating, which covers busy homes and light commercial spaces, so daily footfall, chair legs and kids are well within its range. A 4V bevel runs along all four edges of every plank, giving each one a defined outline, as a wooden floor would have. With planks of 195mm by 1288mm, the floor has a familiar, well-balanced board size.

Where it works

This floor suits bedrooms, dining rooms, kitchens, hallways, conservatories, living rooms and bathrooms. Put a good doormat at the front door to catch grit, which is the main thing that dulls any floor over time. For stairs, pair it with laminate stair nosing so the edge of every step is protected. Fitting and underfloor heating

Installation is click and floating, which means the planks join edge to edge and rest on an underlay instead of being stuck down. A good laminate underlay goes underneath to level small imperfections and quieten the floor. Allow roughly 10% extra on top of the floor area for cuts and waste.
