Smoked Oak 12mm Laminate

Smoked Oak in a straight plank is a dark, rustic-toned laminate with the depth of a smoked timber floor. Knots, markings and streaks give the 196mm boards plenty of character.

Look and character

The colour is a deep smoked brown, and rustic detail runs through each board, with darker streaks, the odd knot and varied grain. That natural irregularity stops a dark floor from looking flat and gives it an aged, lived-in quality. The textured and embossed finish adds a grain underfoot, and the bevelled edges frame every plank. Pair it with light walls to let the floor stand out, and with leather, brass and warm lighting for a cosy, characterful room.

Construction and specification

Being 12mm thick, each plank gives a reassuring, solid step and a calmer sound underfoot compared with thinner laminate. Plank size is 196mm wide by 1215mm long, which keeps the layout calm and uncluttered. One pack covers 1.43 m². All four edges carry a small 4V bevel, which outlines each plank and adds depth to the floor. With an AC4 rating, the wear layer is rated for the busiest rooms in a home and for general commercial footfall.

Where it works

It is a good fit for living rooms, hallways, conservatories, bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms and bathrooms. In hallways, a doormat at the entrance catches grit before it reaches the floor. Fitting and underfloor heating

It is a click-fit laminate laid floating: the planks lock to each other rather than being fixed to the subfloor below. Lay it over a suitable flooring underlay, which smooths out small bumps and softens footfall noise. Remember to add around 10% to the measured area to cover cuts and waste. It is suitable for underfloor heating. Finish the edges of the room with scotia beading to cover the expansion gap.
