Desert Oak 12mm Laminate

Desert Oak in a straight plank is a rustic-toned, medium brown laminate with the subtle knots, markings and streaks of characterful timber. The 196mm wide boards give a relaxed, natural floor that hides everyday wear well.

Look and character

The colour is a medium brown oak with natural variation, and small knots and streaks appear across the boards to give a more authentic, less uniform look. That rustic detail is what stops the floor looking like a flat print, and it helps disguise crumbs and marks between cleans. The textured and embossed surface adds a subtle grain you can feel underfoot. It works well in farmhouse-style kitchens, family living rooms and hallways, with cream walls, painted cabinets and warm wood furniture.

Construction and specification

The 12mm build has real body to it, so the floor feels steady when you walk across it and sounds less hollow once laid over a good underlay. An AC4 wear rating tells you the surface is made for high-traffic domestic areas as well as general commercial use. A 4V bevel runs along all four edges of every plank, giving each one a defined outline, as a wooden floor would have. The planks measure 196mm by 1215mm, long enough to run cleanly through a room with few joints. One pack covers 1.43 m².

This floor suits kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms, conservatories, dining rooms, hallways and bathrooms. For kitchens, a quick wipe after spills keeps the joints in good order. Fitting and underfloor heating

Installation is click and floating, which means the planks join edge to edge and rest on an underlay instead of being stuck down. Lay it over a suitable flooring underlay, which smooths out small bumps and softens footfall noise. Allow roughly 10% extra on top of the floor area for cuts and waste. It is suitable for underfloor heating. Neat scotia beading around the skirting hides the expansion gap.
