Chestnut Oak 12mm Laminate

Chestnut Oak is the deepest brown in our Cambridge laminate range, a dark oak effect on a 12mm, AC5-rated plank. It gives a room a rich, grounded floor with the look of traditional dark timber.

Look and character

The colour is a dark brown with oak grain running through it, giving a strong, warm base to a room. Dark floors make light walls and furniture stand out, and they suit period homes, studies and dining rooms where you want a more formal feel. The textured and embossed surface gives each plank a natural grain feel, and the bevels draw a fine line around every board. Try it with cream or white walls, brass lighting and green or navy accents. As with any dark floor, dust shows more easily than on mid tones.

Construction and specification

A 12mm thickness means more substance than an entry-level laminate: the planks feel solid underfoot and bridge small dips in the subfloor better. AC5 is the highest wear class you will usually see on laminate, rated for heavy commercial traffic, which gives plenty of headroom in a busy home. The 4V bevel on every edge makes each plank stand out slightly from its neighbours, which adds realism. With planks of 188mm by 1195mm, the floor has a familiar, well-balanced board size. Each pack covers 1.35 m² of floor.

Where it works

It is a good fit for kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms, hallways, bedrooms, conservatories and bathrooms. Fit felt pads to chair and table legs to protect the surface. For stairs, pair it with laminate stair nosing so the edge of every step is protected. For more colours in a straight board, see our plank laminate range.

Fitting and underfloor heating

Fitting uses a click system, with the finished floor laid floating over an underlay. Lay it over a suitable flooring underlay, which smooths out small bumps and softens footfall noise. Remember to add around 10% to the measured area to cover cuts and waste. It is suitable for underfloor heating; see our underfloor heating flooring for other options.
