Sandbanks Oak 12mm Laminate

Sandbanks Oak is a light, sandy beige laminate from our Cambridge range, with a relaxed, seaside feel. It gives rooms a soft, bright floor on a tough 12mm, AC5-rated plank.

Look and character

The colour is a pale beige oak, like dry sand, with a soft grain running along each board. It is light enough to open up a room but warm enough to feel welcoming, and it hides fine dust better than a white floor. The textured and embossed finish adds grain underfoot, and the bevels define every plank. It suits coastal and Scandinavian-style schemes with white, soft blue and sage walls, linen, driftwood tones and natural fibres.

Construction and specification

With a 12mm core, the floor has a sturdy, grounded feel that suits busy family rooms. Each plank is 188mm wide and 1195mm long, a classic proportion that reads as a traditional boarded floor. A 4V bevel runs along all four edges of every plank, giving each one a defined outline, as a wooden floor would have. The AC5 rating is the top of the usual laminate scale and means the surface is built to cope with heavy foot traffic, so hallways and busy family rooms are well within its range. Packs cover 1.35 m² each, so round up to the next full pack.

Where it works

This floor suits conservatories, living rooms, kitchens, hallways, dining rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms. Fit felt pads to chair and table legs to protect the surface. Taking it up the stairs? Finish each tread with stair nosing for a neat, safe edge. Browse more plank laminate flooring to compare tones side by side.

Fitting and underfloor heating

It is a click-fit laminate laid floating: the planks lock to each other rather than being fixed to the subfloor below. Choose the right underlay for laminate for your subfloor; it evens out minor bumps and cuts down noise. Remember to add around 10% to the measured area to cover cuts and waste. You can lay it over underfloor heating, which is suitable for this floor; browse more flooring for underfloor heating.
