Description

White Oiled Oak uses a white-pigmented oil to gently lighten natural oak while keeping its grain on show. It comes on 190mm Nevada engineered planks, 1900mm long.

Look and character

The white oil tones down the natural yellow of oak and gives the boards a soft, pale look, lighter than natural but not as stark as a painted white. The grain remains clearly visible, so the floor still looks like timber. Because it is an oil rather than a lacquer, the surface is matt and natural to the touch, and worn patches can be refreshed with a matching maintenance oil. Classic grade oak keeps knots small. It suits Scandinavian, coastal and minimalist rooms, and brightens spaces that get little daylight.

Construction and specification

Each pack holds 2.888 m² of 190mm wide planks, 1900mm in length. A small bevel on all four edges (4V) outlines every board, so the planks read individually and minor height differences are hidden. Each plank is 14mm deep, with a 3mm real oak top layer bonded to the core. A multi-ply core does the structural work, keeping movement low when the room warms up or cools down. Oil nourishes the timber from within and keeps a natural, matt feel; it benefits from a maintenance oil now and then.

Where it works

Pale floors bounce light around, so it is a good pick for smaller or north-facing rooms. You can run it from the hallway into living rooms, and use it in bedrooms, kitchens and conservatories too. Carrying the floor up the staircase is possible; use stair nosing to finish the tread edges neatly.

Fitting and underfloor heating

Fitting is tongue and groove, either as a floating floor over a good underlay or fully glued to the subfloor. Add about 10% to your room size for cuts and waste. Use scotia beading along the skirting to cover the small gap the floor needs to move. It is suitable for underfloor heating.

K
Kieran Fox

The quality really stands out once it’s installed. You can still see the natural character of the oak, but the white oil gives it a fresh contemporary style that works beautifully with modern interiors.

V
Vicky May

Really like the white oiled finish. It keeps the natural feel of the oak but gives it a lighter, fresher look.

K
Kira Yates

We put the sample next to the skirting boards and it looked completely different from the website. Much softer in the actual room.
